The Parable of the 3 men

October 31, 2006

3 men went to a banquet with the king. They sat two on one side and one on the other side of the king. When the feast bean, only 2 of the men spoke. One was foolish in his words and spoke without thought. He angered the king with unintentional insults and so, was thrown into prison.

The second man was a guest from a distant land. He boasted of his land’s militia and of the war his home was planning against his host. Because of his careless words, the king was aware of the plots against him and was prepared. The man was held as a hostage because o his bragging.

Only 1 man of the 3 remained. He chose his words carefully throughout the banquet, speaking only of good things toward the king. The king found favor with him because of his kind words and rewarded him, for he who holds his tongue finds rewards.

Wicked Sweet Story Beginnings

October 31, 2006

There are two kinds of writers. Those who can start a story, and those who can carry a story on. I’m the kind who can start a story. These would make some cool tales, but I don’t have the time or patience to carry them on. So these are for all you writers who can make a story an adventure.

1. It happened on the day the circus came to town.

2. When the elephant sat on him, I knew it was all over.

3. “3…2…1, Throw!!!” And the potatoes were flying throught the air.

4. The last time I saw a Blue-Footed Booby…

5. The beaver turned to me and said…

6. The car drove by,, and that’s when I saw him. How could he be driving the car when he died 6 years ago?

7. The chickens were going crazy and all was in chaos.

8.All I could think about was, ” How do we get the kite out of the tree without falling off the cliff?”

9. It was a clear night. Too clear. That’s when it hit me… THE STARS WERE GONE!!!!!!

10. You don’t really think about your life until your backed into a corner by an angry  giraffe. Read the rest of this entry »

Super?

October 29, 2006

We’ve all thought about it, what would I do with super powers? Flying? Super strength? X-ray vision? I know which one I would want. I would want to speak every language, but most of all I would want to speak to animals and trees. Just trees, not other plants. I want to talk to trees, because they have seen hundreds of years of human history. What would they tell us if they could talk. Imagine if the trees of the time of the founding fathers of
America were able to talk. We would have no more questions about history. Some people might wonder, “Why only trees, why not all plants?” Talking to other plants would be like talking to children. Nothing against that, but you always expect what you are going to hear, they don’t tell you anything new. There are few plants older than ourselves. But trees are not the only non-human organisms I would communicate with. Animals. What would they tell us? Their world is very different than ours. There is little room for luxury, only necessity. This is the world I would choose for reasons I could never explain. I’m sure this is This is the super power I would choose. It’s not exactly a “save the world” type of power, but it’s good enough for me.

Things to do before I die

October 10, 2006

We aren’t given much time here, but it is what we do with that time that defines us better than how long we live. Many people do important things like saving the world or trying to take it over. I didn’t say that we would be remembered for all the good things, I mean, who’s heard of Hitler? That’s right, everyone, but that doesn’t mean he is known for being a great man, he is just remembered. My choices will not earn me an eternal place in history like Einstein or Jesus, but maybe I can do things that are important enough for me to remember them. Here are the things I want to do with MY time:

1. Get a Diploma on time
2. Graduate from college with a master’s in Veternary Medicine

3. Move to Kenya for a few years to study and help the animals

4. Travel around Europe

5. Learn German

6. Drive a Smart Car

7. Own a Dodge Ram 3500 in Inferno Red Crystal Pearl

8. Own a speedboat

9. Never break my wrist again

10. Go to Kansas to visit Sarah

11. Have an Irish Wolfhound as a pet

12. Have a German Shepherd as a pet

13. Own a farm in southern Minnesota

14. Get married

15. Open a successful veterinary practice

16. Go fishing in Canada

17. Go 4-wheeling down a landing strip

18. Not get caught 4-wheeling down a landing strip

19. Fly across the Pacific

20. See a Great White shark

21. Make an afghan

22. Try sushi

23. Ride an elephant in India

24. Run a successful big cat rescue

25. Have as a pet a lion named Felix

This is currently an unfinished list. It will soon and frequently be added to.

Kenya

October 5, 2006

Where do you want to go? Mexico, France, China…Canada? What do you want to see? My dream is to see Kenya. Though it is on the coast, it is still the heart of Africa. Many people go to Kenya to see the city and people. I want to go to see the wildlife. I want to see lions, african wild dogs, zebras, and all the other creatures to be found there. The place I want to see these animals the most is the Masai Mara reserve. My fascination with the beings of Kenya has led me to want to go there and see them for myself. Where will you go?  What will you see? And most importantly, why?
